Cardi B is a new mum once again. The rapper just shared the first photos of her baby girl giving fans a glimpse of her family’s precious moments at the hospital.

“The prettiest lil thing 🌸🌸 9/7/24 💖💖💖,” Cardi captioned her Instagram photos which featured photos with Offset, and their children: Kulture, 5, and Wave, 2.

In the pictures, Cardi B is seen cradling her newborn while lying in a hospital bed. The baby, wrapped in a soft blanket and wearing a pink beanie, looks peaceful in her mother’s arms. The Junior Tigress, Nigeria’s U18 women’s basketball team, has secured a spot in the semifinals of the 2024 FIBA U18 Women’s AfroBasket Championship in Pretoria, South Africa, after a decisive 66-51 victory over Egypt. This marks the first time in 14 years that Nigeria has advanced to the semifinals of this tournament.

Coming into the quarter-finals as one of the best third-placed teams, the Junior D’Tigress wasted no time establishing dominance against previously unbeaten Egypt, leading 24-13 in the first quarter. In the second quarter, they extended their lead to 37-24 at halftime.

Although the third quarter presented some challenges with turnovers and foul trouble, their defence stayed strong, and they maintained offensive pressure with fluid ball movement, ending the third with a comfortable 54-36 lead.

Egypt, who had defeated Nigeria 72-60 in the opening game of the tournament, couldn’t replicate their earlier success. Nigeria’s squad sought redemption and found it. Abigail Isaac was a standout player, posting a double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds.

Next, Nigeria will face Uganda in the semifinals on Friday at 5:00 p.m. (GMT+2), while Cameroon will take on Mali in the other semifinal matchup.

Watch the highlights from the quarter-final between Egypt and Nigeria below.

Eight studio albums, five live albums, three compilation albums, five EPs, one soundtrack album, two karaoke albums, 32 Grammy awards and 88 nominations, numerous rand deals, and a new haircare line Cécred, Beyoncé Knowles-Carter has conquered nearly every aspect of the entertainment industry.

As the 37th greatest artist of all time, with over 200 million records sold worldwide, Beyoncé has maintained her status as a global superstar for over three decades and has “shown an unprecedented adeptness at breaking rules and entering new spaces in the music and business worlds.”

In an interview for GQ Magazine’s October cover story, Beyoncé shares her thoughts on her latest business ventures, her extraordinary legacy, and her role as a mother. “It’s not about being perfect. It’s about being revolutionary,” she reflects. The interview explores her journey of finding “personal joy” after decades in the limelight, balancing motherhood with international stardom, and prioritising self-care.

Read excerpts of the interview below:

What has your experience been like, as a Black woman, in business spaces that some might have assumed you wouldn’t thrive in?

There’s a huge contrast between the business journeys of men and women. Men often have the luxury of being perceived as the strategists, the brains behind their ventures. They’re given the space to focus on the product, the team, the business plan. Women, on the other hand, especially those in the limelight, are frequently pigeonholed into being the face of the brand or the marketing tool. It’s important to me to continue to take the same approach I have taken with my music and apply my learnings to my businesses.

I am here to change that old narrative. I’m here to focus on the quality. We took our time, and we did our research, and we have earned respect for our brand. I try to choose integrity over shortcuts. I’ve learned that true success isn’t about leaning on a name; it’s about crafting something genuine, something that can hold its own. It’s not about being perfect. It’s about being revolutionary.

Earlier this year, you also launched a hair care line, Cécred. In ramping up these business interests, do you find that entrepreneurialism scratches a different kind of itch than your other creative pursuits?

I am a musician first. It has always been my priority. I didn’t get into anything that could take away from my artistry until I felt I was solidified as a master at my first love, music.

When I started my hair care brand, Cécred, I wanted it to be recognized for what it does for real people and their hair. When it launched, I made a conscious decision not to appear in the ads. The brand’s first impression needed to stand on its own merit, not be swayed by my influence. I’ve been using these products for years, so I know firsthand how magical they are.

Increasingly, your work seems a little bit like a family business. For instance, recently your 12-year-old daughter, Blue, has evolved from a curious onlooker of your creative process to fully being a part of it, with her own dance routine in your last tour beside you. Were you ever hesitant to include her in your public life and work, with all the scrutiny and, sometimes, criticism that that entails? How has it felt to watch her blossom as a creative force in her own right?

I build my work schedule around my family. I try to only tour when my kids are out of school. I always dreamt of a life where I could see the world with my family and expose them to different languages, architecture, and lifestyles

Raising three kids isn’t easy. The older they get, the more they become their own individuals with unique needs, hobbies, and social lives. My twins are God-sent. Parenting constantly teaches you about yourself. It takes a lot of prayer and patience. I love it. It’s grounding and fulfilling.

My kids come with me everywhere I go. They come to my office after school, and they are in the studio with me. They are in dance rehearsals. It’s natural that they would learn my choreography.

Blue is an artist. She has great taste in music and fashion. She is a fantastic editor, painter, and actress. She has been creating characters since she was three. She’s a natural, but I did not want Blue onstage. Blue wanted it for herself. She took it seriously and she earned it. And most importantly, she had fun! We all watched her grow more and more every night before our eyes.

James Earl Jones, the iconic American actor whose unmistakable voice brought to life characters like Darth Vader in “Star Wars” and Mufasa in “The Lion King,” has passed away at the age of 93. The news of his death at his home in Dutchess County, New York, was confirmed on Monday morning, September 9.

Born on January 17, 1931, James was a shy child who struggled with a speech impediment. In high school, an English teacher helped him overcome his stutter by teaching him how to sound out words carefully and encouraging him to read aloud in class. After high school, he initially attended the University of Michigan to study medicine, but soon found his true passion in drama and changed his major. After completing his service as an Army Ranger, he moved to New York to pursue an acting career.

James’ deep baritone voice and commanding stage presence quickly made him a standout. He made his Broadway debut in the late 1950s in “Sunrise at Campobello.” Over the years, his resonant voice became iconic, breathing life into beloved animated characters such as Mufasa in Disney’s “The Lion King” (1994), its sequel in 1998, and the 2019 remake. He also voiced characters in films like “Robots” (2005) and “Jack and the Beanstalk” (2009). His final role was in 2021’s “Coming 2 America,’ where he reprised his role as King Jaffe Joffer from the 1988 comedy classic “Coming to America.”

In addition to his film roles, James lent his voice to various documentaries, including “Malcolm X” (1972) and “Earth” (2007). He also famously voiced the tagline, “This is CNN,” which still plays during commercial breaks on the network.

He achieved the rare EGOT honour, with an asterisk. He won two Emmy Awards, a Grammy, and two Tony Awards, including a Lifetime Achievement Tony in 2017. In 2011, he received an honorary Oscar.

James Earl Jones was first married to actress-singer Julienne Marie, and his second wife, actress Cecilia Hart, passed away in 2016 after 34 years of marriage. He is survived by his son, Flynn Earl Jones.

The 2024 Summer Olympics may have left many Nigerians disheartened after finishing without a single medal, but the Nigerian Paralympians in Paris had a different message: “Watch us!” Their outstanding performance at the Summer Paralympics showcased resilience, determination, and remarkable achievements, putting Nigeria back on the global map.

Despite a smaller contingent, the Nigerian Paralympians excelled in various fields. Eniola Mariam Bolaji, an 18-year-old badminton player, made history by defeating Ukraine’s Oksana Kozyna in straight sets (21-9, 21-9) to claim a bronze medal. Not only was this Nigeria’s first medal in Paris, but it was also the first-ever badminton medal won by an African player at either the Olympics or Paralympics.

In the women’s javelin event, Flora Ugwunwa continued her winning streak, securing a silver medal with a throw of 19.26m. The 40-year-old Paralympian has now won medals in three consecutive Paralympics, adding this silver to her two previous golds from Rio and Tokyo.

Ogun-born para-athlete Isau Ogunkunle also made Nigeria proud by winning a bronze medal in the men’s class 4 table tennis competition, continuing the country’s tradition of excellence in the sport.

Nigerian powerlifters once again demonstrated their dominance at the Paralympics. Onyinyechi Mark brought home Nigeria’s first gold medal in Paris, setting new records by lifting 146kg, 147kg, and 150kg in her category. Esther Ogechi Nworgu also added to Nigeria’s medal count, securing silver in the women’s up to 41kg powerlifting event.

Bose Omolayo, a veteran of the Paralympic stage, secured her third consecutive podium finish, claiming silver with a 149kg lift. Despite numerous challenges both on and off the field, she stood tall, finishing ahead of Egypt’s Safaa Hassan and behind China’s Han Miayou, who set a new world record with a 154kg lift to take gold.

Closing Nigeria’s memorable Paralympic journey, team captain Folashade Oluwafemiayo delivered a spectacular performance, winning a gold medal in powerlifting and breaking two world records with a staggering 167kg lift. Her victory was a fitting end to Nigeria’s campaign and a crowning achievement for the team’s efforts.

Overall, Nigeria earned seven medals—two gold, three silver, and two bronze—finishing 40th on the Paralympics medal table and 4th in Africa, behind Algeria, Tunisia, and Morocco.

Academy Award-winning actress Lupita Nyong’o is set to launch a new storytelling podcast titled “Mind Your Own.” This ten-part series explores the lives of Africans in the diaspora, all centred around the thought-provoking question: Where is Home? Through narratives from Africans across the globe, the podcast navigates what it means to belong, offering insights into identity and connection from an African perspective.

Born in Mexico, raised in Kenya, and having spent the last 20 years in the U.S., Lupita explains that her homesickness inspired the creation of this podcast. She seeks to explore the experiences of fellow Africans who, like her, straddle multiple worlds they call home. “Mind Your Own” will feature personal stories from Lupita’s journey, alongside intimate conversations with others finding their way in cities like Nairobi, Addis Ababa, Los Angeles, Johannesburg, Toronto, and Kampala.

The podcast showcases a diverse representation of African cultures, featuring six African languages and music from 15 composers. Produced by KQED’s Snap Studios and distributed by Lemonada Media, “Mind Your Own” brings the richness of African diasporic experiences to listeners worldwide, capturing the joys, challenges, and nuances of home and belonging.

Lupita invites listeners to join her weekly, as she unearths wild, intimate, and joyous stories of Africans seeking love, family, and new beginnings. The first two episodes will premiere on September 19 across all podcast platforms, with new episodes released every week.

In her announcement, Lupita shared,

I have some GREAT NEWS to share 📣: I made a podcast called MIND YOUR OWN, debuting globally on September 19th! Link in bio to subscribe today!

MIND YOUR OWN features stories from the African perspective: Forget about the hot button, newsworthy stories that you are used to hearing from the Continent! This show is about the personal, intimate, individual and quirky stories that give light to who we are as Africans today!! 🌍

I created MIND YOUR OWN because I was homesick and I wanted to hear stories from other Africans navigating more than one world that they consider home like me. It’s also for anybody who has ever felt alien in one way or another; for everyone considering what it really means to belong. 💗

Chinasa T. Okolo, a computer scientist and Brookings Institution fellow has been honoured as one of TIME’s 100 most influential people in AI (Artificial Intelligence) in the second edition of TIME100 AI. This list aims to foster dialogue among leaders and share their insights with TIME’s global readership.

Chinasa was recognised for her efforts to address the risks posed by biased AI systems to communities in the Global South. Through policy advocacy, public speaking, and research, she is working to ensure that these communities are not left behind or exploited. Her work also highlights the potential benefits of AI for Africa, including flood detection and crop disease monitoring, while addressing its possible harms, such as digital harassment on microlending platforms.

TIME notes:

With so much AI development emerging from Silicon Valley, communities in the Global South risk getting left behind technologically, victimized by biased systems, or exploited for their data. Chinasa T. Okolo, a Nigerian-American computer scientist and a Brookings Institution fellow, is trying to mitigate those risks through policy advocacy, public speaking and releasing research papers. Okolo has recently contributed passages to the International Scientific Report on the Safety of Advanced AI, led by Yoshua Bengio; the African Union’s strategy for responsible AI adoption; and Nigeria’s national AI strategy.

Through these endeavors and her own research, she is raising awareness about the benefits using AI could bring to countries across Africa—including detection of floods and crop diseases—as well as its potential harms, such as digitally-enabled harassment on microlending platforms. “I’m optimistic that AI could help fuel socioeconomic development that has been much needed in Africa for the last half-century,” she tells TIME. “But I’m also concerned that this competition could limit the autonomy of African countries and perpetuate neo-colonial practices that have negatively impacted their economies.”

Reflecting on her recognition, Chinasa says, “Receiving this recognition a year after earning my PhD and a year into my professional career is considerable motivation for me to continue my research and advocacy.”

Other notable figures featured in TIME100 AI include Mark Zuckerburg, CEO of Meta; Mira Murati, CTO of OpenAI; Ray Kurzweil, Principal Researcher and AI Visionary at Google; and Marques Brownlee, YouTuber, among others. See the full list here.

Women have always been at the heart of economic activity, a truth that endures through generations. Today, with greater access to information and a global push for financial independence, women are boldly claiming their economic power. From driving economic growth as entrepreneurs to influencing policy and leading businesses, women’s financial autonomy is reshaping communities and economies worldwide. Figures like Ngozi OkonjoIweala, the first female Director-General of the World Trade Organisation, exemplify how economic leadership can inspire and transform societies.

With money comes freedom, authority, influence, power, and independence. In the film “Adire,” when Asari decides she’s had enough of her pimp, Captain, who sees her as nothing more than a commodity, it’s her financial independence that enables her to break free, reinvent herself as Adire, and start a successful business. “Adire” illustrates how economic power allows one to reclaim one’s identity and shape one’s future.

“Adire” is not alone in highlighting this theme. Here are five more films that explore how women harness their financial strength to rewrite their stories and drive societal change:

“King of Boys”

In “King of Boys,” Eniola Salami is one of Nollywood’s most formidable female characters. As a wealthy businesswoman with a complex past, Eniola leverages her financial resources to navigate the political landscape and assert her influence in a male-dominated world. Her economic power grants her the ability to make strategic moves, eliminate threats, and maintain control over her empire, defying traditional gender roles and showcasing how wealth can be a powerful tool for success.

Lionheart

As the executive director of her family’s bus company, Adaeze is well-versed in the company’s finances and operations. When her father falls ill, her initial expectation to take over is dashed when her uncle is appointed instead.

Nevertheless, Adaeze’s financial prowess shines through. She successfully negotiates key investments that keep the company afloat amid a financial crisis. She prevents a potential takeover when she secures essential contracts that boost the company’s revenue and expertly manages the complexities of debt restructuring. Adaeze became the lifeblood of the company

To imagine a Lionheart, where Adaeze is without any economic power would be to imagine a Lionheart transport company that failed.

Wives on Strike 2

In “Wives on Strike 2,” domestic violence is portrayed as a severe issue exacerbated by the victims’ lack of economic power. When a woman is murdered by her husband, her friends come together, using their limited resources to seek justice. They hire a vigilante to extract a confession from the perpetrator, stepping in where traditional systems fall short.

Studies show that increasing a woman’s economic power can reduce her risk of violence, as financial independence lessens her dependence on abusive partners. Without economic power, many women feel trapped in or return to abusive relationships.

The women’s collective action and advocacy for systemic change demonstrate how economic power can drive social justice and political activism. The film also highlights the support provided by the deceased woman’s friend, who takes in her daughter and helps her find her voice.

Breaded Life

A bread seller, Todowedo manages her small business by purchasing bread from the bakery and selling it throughout the day. This independent venture allows her to support herself, covering her rent and personal expenses without relying on local bigwigs like Jobe or the bakery owner, Jugunu, who have made advances toward her. Her financial self-sufficiency is evident in her ability to help others, such as accommodating Sunmi when he is stranded and introducing him to the bakery owner for employment opportunities. In Breaded Life, we see Todowede’s economic autonomy through her resilience and capacity to support and uplift others within her community.

Citation

In “Citation,” we shift our focus to Ibukun Awosika, who plays herself in the film. In a panel hearing, when Professor N’Dyare attempts to undermine a young female panel member by flaunting his academic credentials, Ibukun counters by listing her own impressive qualifications, which far exceed his. Her extensive credentials ensure that the professor cannot intimidate her, allowing the panel to proceed with their investigation and deliver appropriate justice.

Her assertive leadership in the panel challenges the professor’s arrogance and demonstrates how her professional stature and economic success empower her to uphold justice and authority in the face of misconduct.

All the movies mentioned—”Adire,” “King of Boys,” “Lionheart,” “Breaded Life,” and “Citation”—are available to stream on Netflix, while “Wives on Strike 2,” can be found on Prime Video.

Big changes have hit the Big Brother Naija house, and they’re shaking things up. Housemates who entered the reality TV show as pairs are now flying solo after Big Brother announced a major twist—no more partners. Adding to the drama, the infamous parrot has also made its return to the house.

The show’s intensity skyrocketed on Monday evening during the Head of House (HoH) game, which crowned Onyeka—formerly one half of the sister duo Chekas—as the first solo HoH of the season. As her first act, Onyeka chose her sister, Chizoba, as her guest to enjoy the perks of the HoH condo.

With the housemates now on individual paths, Big Brother gave them the chance to reintroduce themselves to the public and make a direct plea for votes in the diary room, urging viewers to keep them in the game as they embark on their solo journeys.

But Biggie wasn’t done shaking things up. New rules were laid down, forbidding any form of conspiracy or vote solicitation within the house. Whispering, microphone infringement, speaking in codes, blocking doors, and damaging Big Brother’s property now carry the threat of strikes. The housemates quickly felt the weight of these new regulations during the HoH challenge when Sooj was disqualified for receiving cheers from his partner, Nelly—a clear violation of the no-cheering rule.

Watch the housemates reintroduce themselves below:

One thing Big Brother Naija is never short of is surprises and shocks. Every week brings something fresh and unexpected, and just when viewers think they’ve settled into the new rhythm, Biggie throws another curveball, pow!

This season of Big Brother Naija: No Loose Edition has received mixed reactions from fans, with some finding it somewhat underwhelming. Even the host, Ebuka ObiUchendu, has weighed in, noting that the housemates seem to be lacking energy. However, Biggie’s latest twist suggests he believes there’s no such thing as boring in his house.

The housemates, who entered the show as pairs—besties, twins, family members, lovers, and even a married couple—have navigated the game together, winning wagers, securing Head of House positions, and providing mutual support. However, after Radical’s eviction, Biggie made a shocking announcement:

Housemates, Big Brother hereby removes your crutches. Henceforth, you will walk this path alone. The pairs are hereby dissolved, and your fate is now squarely in your hands. You will no longer be a passenger in someone else’s ride. You will no longer be allowed to live in another person’s shadow. You will compete for yourself.

Adding to the drama, the parrot—Big Brother’s notorious robotic device that listens to housemates’ private conversations and reveals them to the public later—has also been reintroduced into the house. This reintroduction of the parrot alongside the dissolution of pairs ensures that no conversation is truly private and amplifies the stakes as housemates now face the game individually.

The unpairing twist isn’t the first change Biggie has introduced this season. In previous editions, the Heads of House enjoyed immunity from evictions, but this year, there’s no immunity, and Heads of House were chosen by votes. Recently, Ebuka revealed that the custodian challenges are over, and housemates will now nominate each other for eviction. The power to save and replace housemates is gone, and the Head of House will be decided by a game win and will again gain immunity but won’t have the power to alter nominations. This latest twist has left everyone stunned.

The reactions from the housemates have been emotional, with some even shedding tears upon realising they will face the remaining four weeks alone. The competition is about to get even fiercer as each housemate fights to prove they have what it takes to win.

While the housemates are still reeling from the new changes, fans are already sharing their thoughts on the latest developments:

When Ebuka Obi-Uchendu appears on your screen on a Sunday evening, it can only mean one thing—eviction time. Tonight, the Big Brother Naija No Loose Guard edition bid farewell to the Radicals (Michky and Fairme David) as they became the latest pair to leave the house.

This week, four pairs were up for eviction: Aces, DoubleKay, Radicals, and Wanni x Handi. Unfortunately, the Radicals received the lowest votes and had to say their goodbyes. During tonight’s eviction show, Ebuka didn’t hold back, expressing that last week’s performances were so dull that they left him yawning. He remarked on the housemates’ lack of energy.

Check out the highlights from tonight’s eviction:

The 2024 Summer Paralympics officially commenced in Paris with an opening ceremony at the Place de la Concorde. This year’s 17th edition of the Paralympic Games will see over 4,000 athletes across the globe competing in 549 medal events spread across 22 sports over 11 days, from August 28 to September 8. Nigeria proudly participated in the parade of athletes, led by Lauritta Onye, a shot put athlete, who served as the nation’s flagbearer.

Team Nigeria will compete with 24 athletes in four sports: Para-athletics, Para-badminton, Para-powerlifting, and Para-table tennis. The breakdown includes five athletes in athletics, two in badminton, nine in powerlifting, and eight in table tennis. This diverse group of athletes is determined to build on Nigeria’s rich legacy at the Paralympic Games.

Nigeria has been a dominant force since its debut at the 1992 Summer Paralympics in Barcelona. Over the years, the country has amassed 80 medals—40 gold, 19 silver, and 21 bronze. The athletes, alongside seven coaches and five medical personnel, are focused on continuing this tradition of excellence in Paris.

As the Games officially begin, Nigeria’s Minister of Sports Development, John Owan Enoh, sent a goodwill message to the team, urging them to make a statement of excellence and determination. He emphasised that the Paris 2024 Paralympics is more than just another sporting event; it’s an opportunity for Nigeria to restore its pride on the global stage.

“Paris 2024 is not just another sporting event; it’s an opportunity for Team Nigeria to show the world what we are capable of. Our athletes have trained hard, and they are prepared to give their best performance. We are here to compete, to win, and to bring glory to Nigeria,” John Enoh stated.

He also expressed his confidence in the athletes, believing in their potential to achieve greatness: “Our para-athletes have always been a source of inspiration and pride for Nigeria. I have no doubt that they will make us proud again in Paris. We are all behind them, and we are confident that they will exceed expectations and bring home numerous medals.”

On Week 4 of Big Brother Naija No Loose Guard’s live eviction show, five pairs of housemates were nominated: Chekas, Zinwe, Beta, DoubleKay, and Wanni X Handi.

Viewers would recall that last Sunday, during the eviction show that sent Streeze and Floruish packing, Ebuka announced new twists to the BBNaija game. These included the end of the custodian challenge, a fresh nomination process where housemates nominate each other for eviction, with viewers ultimately deciding who stays. Additionally, the Head of House ballot was eliminated.

This week, based on viewer votes, Zinwe (Zion and Chinwe) received the fewest votes and were subsequently evicted from the house.

This eviction marks the departure of the fifth pair, leaving nine pairs still vying for the coveted prize.

Catch the highlights from tonight’s show below:

In the world of Big Brother Naija, most housemates enter the show as singles. Some find love within its walls, and if fate smiles upon them, these relationships can blossom beyond the show, sometimes even leading to marriage. But for KayXtra (Kassia Sule) and KellyRae (Kellyrae Sule), who make up the pair known as DoubleKay, their love story is already written—they’re not just a couple; they’re a married couple, taking on the BBNaija No Loose Guard edition together.

Unlike others, they didn’t step into the house as singles; they entered as a married couple. In a recent conversation with Toby Forge of Streeze, Kassia caught Toby’s interest, but he was unaware of her marital status. DoubleKay have skillfully kept their marriage private from the other housemates.

Both hailing from Delta State, Kassia is an entrepreneur, while KellyRae is a professional singer. Their love story spans over nine years, beginning with a playful game of hard-to-get that eventually led to their fairy tale romance. KellyRae proposed in November last year, and they sealed their love in February this year.

The Big Brother Naija game is proving to be a winning streak for Nelita (Nelly and Anita). Just last week, they secured the title of Heads of House through a ballot system and then went on to win the immunity challenge, which protected them from eviction. Now, in Week 4, the duo has once again emerged as Heads of House, making this their second consecutive week in the position.

With Big Brother’s newly introduced rules, their position comes with automatic immunity, unlike previous weeks when HOHs lacked such protection. Under these new rules, the Head of House no longer holds the power to save and replace housemates during nominations. Eviction nominations are now strictly determined by housemates, while viewers have the final say on who stays through their votes.

As Heads of House, Nelita selected Aces as their condo guests for the week.

With Nelita safe from eviction, here are the pairs nominated for possible eviction this week:

Another Sunday night, another eviction—or should we say evictions? For the first time this season on BBNaija No Loose Guard, two pairs of housemates were evicted in Week 3. The first to go were Streeze (Toby Forge and Mayor Frosh), followed by Floruish (DJ Flo and Rhuthee). Four pairs—Steeeze, Flourish, Beta, and Radicals—were at the bottom and up for eviction tonight.

The week’s custodians, Wanni x Handi, were given the critical task of saving one pair, and they chose to save Beta, leaving the remaining three pairs at risk. Ultimately, Streeze and Floruish were sent packing. In an unexpected twist, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu revealed some major updates to the show:

  • End of the Custodian Challenge: The custodian boxes, which played a key role this season, have now been closed. The last custodian box was opened by Wanni x Handi, marking the end of this powerful gameplay element in the game.
  • New Nomination Process: Starting this Monday, housemates will now nominate each other for eviction. The viewers now have the power to vote and decide who stays.
  • Head of House Challenge Update: The Head of House ballot is over, and the challenge will return to the arena on Mondays from 2 to 6 p.m. The Head of House will once again win immunity but will no longer have the power to save and replace any housemates.

These rule changes promise to shake things up, so make sure to stay tuned to BellaNaija for live updates and all the in-depth coverage you need.

Guinness World Records has officially recognised Brian Nwana, as the record holder for Most Fast Food Restaurants visited in 24 hours. His record surpasses the former record of 100 restaurants, held by Canadian YouTuber Eric Decker, known as Airrack.

On April 24th, Brian, a 22-year-old food content creator from Abuja, embarked on this ambitious journey to spotlight Abuja-based food businesses and showcase the richness of Nigerian cuisine. Although his original goal was to visit 120 restaurants, he exceeded expectations, stopping by 150 eateries. His journey started at 5 pm at Chicken Republic in Gwarinpa and ended 24 hours later at Truck Central.

What makes Brian’s feat even more impressive is that he completed the entire route on foot, without using any form of transportation. Along the way, he sampled a variety of dishes—from Nigerian staples like Moin Moin and Amala to global favourites like shawarma, pizza, fried chicken, and burgers.

“This record goes to show that the Nigerian food space is worth paying attention to,” Brian shared. “I would like to encourage people from around the world to come and explore the Nigerian food space.”

It’s not uncommon for identical twins to share a bond so strong that it shapes their entire lives, from childhood through adulthood. They often wear matching outfits, sport the same hairstyles, and even pursue similar passions. In the Big Brother house, we’ve seen this dynamic play out with the Wanni x Handi twins, who are both DJs and performers. Similarly, the Mbadiwe Twins, Ocee and Ozee, are both entertainers and legal professionals, making their mark on the show this season.

The Mbadiwe Twins have a remarkable journey together, highlighted by earning their master’s degrees, a milestone they say cemented their brotherhood. Their bond extends into business ventures as well, making them a formidable duo both inside and outside the Big Brother house.

Sons of the well-known businessman and Pro-Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Greg Ozumba Mbadiwe, and grandsons of the Nigerian First Republic nationalist and statesman, Ozumba Mbadiwe, Ocee and Ozee are not just legal experts but also successful entrepreneurs and entertainers.

Since the “No Loose Guard” season of Big Brother Naija kicked off, they’ve enjoyed a solid run, including being the first to win the Head of House title and securing immunity from eviction in the second week. Recently, Ocee shared the heartwarming news of his engagement and that he and his fiancee are expecting a baby.

We’re now in the third week of BBNaija’s “No Loose Guard,” and the excitement continues to build after a thrilling second week that ended with a surprising eviction night. If you missed any of the action, you can catch up herehere and here.

As the new week begins, the house has elected its new leaders. The pair Nelita (Nelly and Anita) were voted the new Heads of House through a ballot system, granting them the power to choose their condo partners. Nelita selected Chekas to join them in the Heads of House condo.

Meanwhile, Wanni x Handi has been named the new Custodians of the week, taking over from Streeze, who held the role last week and made the tough decision to evict Ndi Nne. With their custodian win, Wanni x Handi gains immunity from eviction and the critical power to save or evict a pair during the next live eviction show.

To keep your favourite pair in the game, be sure to vote. Register on the website to vote, download the app to unlock votes based on your subscription, or cast your vote via the mobile site.

Two years ago, the former Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, and his wife, Beatrice Nwanneka Ekweremadu were arrested by the London Metropolitan Police. They faced accusations of attempting to “smuggle a child to the United Kingdom to harvest organs,” as reported. The couple was alleged to have sought to persuade doctors at the Royal Free Hospital in London to perform an £80,000 transplant on a donor presented as their daughter Sonia Ekweremadu’s cousin.

In March 2023, a jury found the Ekweremadus guilty. Ike Ekweremadu was sentenced to nine years and eight months in prison for organ trafficking, while Beatrice received a four-year and six-month sentence.

Now, in an exclusive new docu-series, “Daniel vs Ekweremadu – The Battle Over One Man’s Kidney,” media personality Chude Jideonwo, host of “WithChude,” delves into the harrowing details of this case. The series, shot in Nigeria and the United Kingdom, explores:

  • The shocking circumstances surrounding a powerful Nigerian politician’s desperate quest for a kidney for his seriously ill daughter.
  • The allegations of trafficking a 21-year-old trader from Lagos, forcibly seizing his passport and attempting to take his organ.
  • How the Metropolitan Police received a tip-off about the Ekweremadus’ arrival in London, leading to their arrest directly on the plane at Heathrow.
  • The reasons behind the victim’s decision to flee from the London flat where he was kept, leading him to report the situation to the authorities.
  • The current status of the victim, the last contact with his family, and the ongoing fears for his safety.

This docu-series, premiering on Friday, August 23rd and Friday, August 30th, offers unprecedented access to the prosecutors, the hospital involved, and features exclusive interviews with the victim’s family, who are speaking on camera for the first time.

Rena Wakama, head coach of Nigeria’s senior women’s basketball team, D’Tigress, has been named the Best Coach of the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, by the International Basketball Federation (FIBA).

At just 32 years old, Rena is the only first female Nigerian basketball coach and also one of the youngest coaches in Olympic history. Under her leadership, D’Tigress achieved historic milestones, advancing to the Olympic quarterfinals for the first time ever.

D’Tigress made a statement from the start, defeating the Opals of Australia—ranked third globally—in a stunning 75-62 victory on the opening day. This win marked their first Olympic game victory in 20 years, following their 68-64 triumph over South Korea in Athens 2004.

Their momentum continued as they upset fifth-ranked Canada with a 79-70 score, making history as the first African team to compete in the Olympic quarterfinals and secure two wins at the Games.

Though their remarkable run ended in the quarterfinals against the United States, D’Tigress put up a fierce fight until the final whistle.

FIBA recognised Wakama’s leadership as a key factor in Nigeria’s unprecedented success, calling it “the most impactful performance by an African team in Olympic Basketball Tournament history.” FIBA added, “One of the main drivers of Nigeria’s unprecedented success was the leadership of playcaller Rena Wakama.”

When Ebuka Obi-Uchendu graces your screen on a Sunday night, you know drama is inevitable—and this eviction night was no exception. The second eviction show of the Big Brother Naija “No Loose Guard” season delivered shocking surprises as the pair Ndi Nne (Nne and Chinne), who were also the Heads of House, were evicted from the show. This marks the first time in BBNaija history that a Head of House—or in this case, Heads of House—has been evicted.

Nne and Chinne, who are niece and aunt, share a deep familial bond that began when Chinne moved in with Nne’s parents shortly after Nne was born in 2002. “My aunt was like a big sister to me. She taught me vital things and we bonded like siblings,” Nne shared about their close relationship.

Despite their eviction, Ndi Nne had an impressive run in the house. In the first week, they won the custodian challenge, earning them immunity and a mystery card that allowed them to influence nominations or evictions. In the second week, they were elected as the new Heads of House through a ballot process where their fellow housemates cast their votes. However, the Head of House title did not grant immunity this season, leaving them vulnerable to eviction.

See highlights below:

Next Sunday marks another eviction night. To save your favourite pair, make sure to vote. Register on the website to vote, download the app to unlock votes based on your subscription, or vote via the mobile site.

Faith Kipyegon has once again etched her name into the annals of history, breaking her Olympic record to win her third consecutive gold medal in the women’s 1500m at the Paris Olympics.

Already regarded as the greatest to ever compete in the 1500 metres, Faith’s stunning time of 3:51.29 makes her the first woman to win three Olympic golds in the same track discipline.

The 30-year-old Kenyan middle and long-distance runner, who previously claimed victory in Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020, demonstrated her unparalleled tactical prowess at the Stade de France. Allowing her competitors to set the early pace, Faith strategically positioned herself before launching a decisive sprint in the final 200 metres, leaving Australia’s Jessica Hull and Great Britain’s Georgia Bell to fight for silver and bronze.

She also won a gold medal in the 1,500 m at the 2017, 2022 and 2023 World Athletics Championships and in the 5,000m at the 2023 World Athletics Championships.

The Miss Universe Nigeria pageant has officially extended an invitation to Chidimma Adetshina, inviting her to participate in the upcoming Miss Universe Nigeria 2024 competition. Chidimma, who was a finalist in the 2024 Miss South Africa beauty pageant, recently withdrew from the competition following a controversy over her Nigerian heritage—that sparked national debate and led to a government investigation.

Born in South Africa to a Nigerian father (Igbo) and a Mozambican mother, Chidimma, now a naturalised South African, faced both support and criticism for her participation.

On August 8th, Chidimma announced her decision to step down from the Miss South Africa pageant, citing concerns for her family’s safety. “Being part of the Miss South Africa 2024 competition has been an amazing journey; however, after much careful consideration, I have made the difficult decision to withdraw myself from the competition for the safety and well-being of my family and me. With the support of the Miss South Africa Organisation, I leave with a heart full of gratitude for this amazing experience,” she shared on Instagram.

In response, Miss Universe Nigeria reached out to Chidimma via Instagram today, acknowledging the challenges she faced and offering their support. “We at Miss Universe Nigeria have been closely following the developments regarding your decision to bow out of the Miss South Africa beauty pageant. We acknowledge the circumstances surrounding your withdrawal and understand the challenges you may be facing. In light of these events, we want to extend our support and encouragement,” read the message.

Miss Universe Nigeria went on to express their belief that Chidimma’s journey in the world of pageantry is far from over, inviting her to represent Nigeria in the Miss Universe Nigeria 2024 pageant. “As a Nigerian by heritage, we would like to formally invite you to participate in the Miss Universe Nigeria 2024 pageant. This is an opportunity to represent your father’s native land on an international stage, and we believe you would be an outstanding contender,” the invitation continued.

The organisation emphasised that the Miss Universe Nigeria pageant celebrates the strength, intelligence, and diversity of Nigerian women, and they encouraged Chidimma to consider this opportunity.

Since Nigeria began participating in the Olympics, the country has had only two female athletes represent it in taekwondo. The first was Princess Dudu, who competed at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, and the second is Elizabeth Anyanacho, now a two-time Olympian.

Elizabeth made her Olympic debut at the Tokyo 2020 Summer Games, where she faced Turkey and lost 7-12. Although she had initially planned to compete at the Olympics in 2024, her journey was expedited. This year, she returns to represent Nigeria at the Paris 2024 Summer Olympics, making history as the first female Nigerian athlete to qualify for back-to-back Olympic Games in taekwondo.

At 25 years old, Elizabeth secured her spot in Paris by defeating Kenya’s Jully Musangi in the -67kg category at the 2024 African Taekwondo Olympic Qualification Tournament in Dakar, Senegal. Her journey to this point has been marked by significant accomplishments, including a gold medal at the 13th African Games in Ghana and a silver medal at the 2023 African Taekwondo Championships in Abidjan, Ivory Coast.

Elizabeth’s success has earned her praise from key figures in Nigerian sports. The President of the National Olympic Committee, Habu Gumel, lauded her as a “rising star” committed to representing the nation with pride in Paris. Abdullahi Saidu, President of the Nigeria Taekwondo Federation (NTF), also commended her efforts, stating, “Despite other athletes missing out in the automatic qualification race for Paris 2024, Elizabeth fought like the champion and made it to the final.”

He also expressed his confidence in Elizabeth’s abilities, noting that her hard work and dedication have paid off, and she is ready to compete as a more mature athlete at the Paris Games.

Tomorrow, August 9th, Elizabeth will face Jie of China in the Women’s -67kg Round of 16 Match 6 at 10:11 AM.

Currently an undergraduate at the University of Alabama, Samuel has established himself as a prominent figure in track and field. He holds the Nigerian under-18 record for the 400 metres, having run 45.35 seconds in March. His performance at the Olympics adds to an impressive list of achievements, including winning the 200m and 400m titles at the 2023 African U18 and U20 Championships in Athletics in Ndola, Zambia. He also bagged gold in the 200m and 400m at the 2023 Commonwealth Youth Games in Trinidad and Tobago, where he set a new games record with his Nigerian team in the mixed 4x100m relay.

This milestone marks the first time Nigeria has been represented in the Olympic men’s 400-metre final since Innocent Egbunike participated in Seoul 1988, where he finished fifth with a time of 44.72 seconds.

Samuel is set to compete in the final today at 9:20 pm, running in lane two. He’ll be up against competitors such as Matthew Hudson-Smith of Great Britain and Michael Norman of the USA.

Ndi Nne is on a winning streak, following their first custodian challenge victory last week, which earned them immunity. This week, they have become the new Heads of House after a ballot process where the housemates cast their votes. Although their new position does not come with immunity, they enjoy the HoH condo and its attached treats. Ndi Nne received 3 votes, the highest after Zinwe, who got two votes.

As usual, the Heads of House get to invite guests to enjoy the HoH condo with them. Ndi Nne chose DoubleKay, who will enjoy the treats in the condo but are not allowed to take any back into the main house.

Meanwhile, Streeze (Toby Forge and Mayor Frosh) won the second custodian challenge. In this challenge, housemates played ‘fetch and knot’. Each pair nominated one person as the fetcher, while the other served as a guide and assembler.

They were each given a fishing rod and a blindfold. The fetching partner used the magnet attached to the rod to fish for two knots and washers from a pool of items, while the other partner guided them orally.

With their win, Streeze has gained immunity and is exempt from possible eviction from the BBNaija house this coming week. They also have the power to influence nominations for possible eviction on Saturday.

The first week of Big Brother’s “No Loose Guard” concluded with the season’s first eviction, sending the duo Tami (Toyosi and Damilola) home.

Toyosi, a 26-year-old beautician, and Damilola, a 28-year-old nightlife PR manager, have been friends for eight years, a bond that began when Damilola took a photo of Toyosi.

During the eviction night, Ndi Nne used their custodian power to save one of the nominated pairs, choosing the Radicals. Unfortunately, Tami received the fewest votes from fans, garnering only 2.21%, and was evicted. The other vote percentages were Streeze with 4.58%, Radicals with 4.81%, and Chekas with 5.12%.
