Kingsley and I met on a hot summer evening at a graduation party of a mutual family friend. We exchanged contacts and started talking. We planned our first date which ended up being the worst dates I have ever being to (I told him to surprise me for our first date and he took me to a restaurant that only served steak, I hate steak lol). During our first date, we clicked and we found out we had the same vision and goals. First date turned to multiple dates now to forever.

Our story kicked off in 2015 when we were both university students, living it up in the vibrant city of Brighton. Our paths first crossed in the cozy, welcoming vibe of our shared church community. Back then, we were more like friendly strangers, exchanging polite nods and small talk. For the first two years, we stayed in our own worlds, practically acquaintances, despite orbiting the same circles.

But fate, with its cheeky sense of timing, had other plans. Thanks to a little nudge from two mutual friends, we started spending more time together. What began as casual chats slowly turned into something more electric. By 2018, our friendship had sparked into a close, unbreakable bond. The shift from casual friends to something deeper felt so natural, it was almost like they were always meant to find each other.

As our connection grew, our story flowed naturally toward a magical moment in January 2024. In a setting filled with love and anticipation, Tofarati took a deep breath, got down on one knee, and popped the question that would change everything. That single, heart-stopping moment was the culmination of years of laughter, shared secrets, and a deepening love—a love that promises a lifetime of adventure and excitement.

We met at a friend’s birthday party. It was a house party, and he came with some mutual friends. He stood beside my friends and me, and I couldn’t stop admiring how handsome he looked. He was wearing sneakers, a shirt, and trousers. Honestly, I’m not one to admire guys in sneakers, but trust me, he looked really good, and I couldn’t stop admiring him. I was seriously admiring him that night and I couldn’t stop staring at intervals. He looked so peaceful and calm… I was hoping he was feeling the girl. Luckily for me, he was feeling the fine girl and he actually knew me. He had sent me a DM on Twitter about three years before we met at the party. He reminded me later of how we had once spoken on the phone.

Here’s how Zak popped the question:

We were having a conversation on a random day after work, and I was talking about how I needed to relax and wanted to go to a hotel for the weekend (I say this every market day ). He would always say no, but at some point in the conversation that day, he started indulging me and said we should go. He later suggested adding a dinner too, where I would dress up, he would get me a dress, pay for a makeup artist, and arrange for a nail tech to fix my nails. I don’t know, but the moment he said those things, I knew it was going to be a proposal. But of course, I kept quiet because I didn’t want to ruin the surprise. The only thing I was not sure of was where it was going to be, but I knew I was going to get proposed to that weekend. I really looked forward to it because I was excited to see what he had planned. I’m a proposal girlie, and it’s one thing I had always looked forward to in my life. I’m glad he listened and tried all he could to surprise me and make me happy.

How we met

Norman and I first met in my sophomore year of university. His best friend and roommate (Ridwan) at the time invited me to volunteer at a homeless shelter and introduced me to Norman. We didn’t say much to each other, but he followed me on Instagram right after we were done volunteering. I never saw him again until my senior year of university. I was about to graduate, and I only had a few credits left so I decided to take a swimming class as an elective.

It turned out that Norman’s best friend Ridwan was taking the same class! After swimming class one day, he asked if he and Norman could visit me and my roommate in our apartment downtown and I said of course. When he came over, he was a bit shy but seemed nice. The next day he came over to the bank where I was working part-time to open an account (he didn’t need one, he already had one) and texted me right after he left. We’ve been together ever since!

Ifeoma: On this beautiful night, I thought we were just having a normal dinner. Though I was a bit suspicious, I’ve always been since we checked my ring size about a month ago. I kept asking him almost every day when he would propose so I could prepare for it. I didn’t know he had it all planned out already, he’s always been intentional about the beautiful surprises I got in these 3 years of love. And this takes the cake!!

Kola: I suggested she fix her nails for our trip, hinting at what was to come (cause she doesn’t like fixing her nails but for sure would want it done for her proposal). She had showed me and saved her ideal proposal setup on her Instagram, so I took careful notes of what my girl likes.

Ifeoma: We arrived at this lovely rooftop with friends and my sibling there, It was the perfectttt moment. The sweetest and easiest yes I have ever said! I’m getting married to the absolute love of my life guysss!!!

How we met
By the groom, Oscar:

“Hey, how are you? My name is Ify.” Those were the first words she ever said to me. I was just 12, and she, an 11-year-old girl, walked up to me like we had known each other forever. I remember looking at her, then looking away, thinking, Doesn’t she know I’m her senior? I was in JSS 3, and she was in JSS 2, both of us were students at Caleb International College, Magodo. That was the first time I saw her, a little shy, yet so bold.

From that day on, I saw her a couple more times, and each time, we exchanged brief words. Her shy smiles and blushes whenever we talked became something I looked forward to, even if it was just for a few moments at a time. But then, as the new term started, I realized she was no longer around. I didn’t see her smiles or hear her voice in the hallways. I thought to myself, Maybe she moved to another school. Then one evening, out of the blue, I got a message on Facebook. “Hey Oscar, it’s Ify. I left Caleb, I moved back to the US.” My heart, even as a 13-year-old, skipped a beat with joy. I was so happy to hear from her, even if it was just through a message.

From that moment on, we kept in touch, talking at least once every three months, sometimes more, sometimes less. But every conversation, no matter how brief, meant the world to me. And then, after all those years, we saw each other again in March 2022. It was like no time had passed at all. That little connection we had when we were just kids had grown into something much deeper, something that has now become our love story.

Now, as we stand on the brink of a new chapter, I can’t help but feel grateful for every step that brought us here. Our love story is one of growth, resilience, and unwavering commitment, and I’m excited to see what the future holds for us.

It all started with a dating app… I usually delete the app from my phone very frequently but I never hide my profile when I do. You know, didn’t want any shots to be missed even when I’m not active on the app LOL. Today was one of those days I had the app deleted and I also had my filters STRICTLY to TEXAS. Well, Ibrahim had a layover in Texas from his flight and happened to get on the app at the airport and guess who he saw?!

I got on the app about 2 days after he swiped and the first thing I noticed was his connecting beard (if you know you know) so I swiped and it was a match. Lo and behold, we got talking and I discovered that he lived in New York!!! I said heh?? How in the world… As a traveller, I coincidentally had a week-long trip to New York coming up towards the end of the month. So we started counting down the days as we got to know each other through the phone & the rest was history…

How we met
By the groom, Ibrahim:

I was on a vacation trip from New York to California. On my way going to NYC, I had a layover in IAH. I was exhausted and feeling the fresh air in Houston, meanwhile strange feelings were all over me but I couldn’t describe what it was. But something felt special during my layover like Texas home of Naija. I saw my friend I was traveling with swiping, swiping, swiping, swiping and that reminded me to swipe. The angel I found was Muty Adeyemi and swiped it. No response for the period of my layover till when I landed with Network back on and I saw her swiping me back with a match. That was a nice goal that has been scored. She won my heart with her unique character that I named (ANIKE MI owon), from then onward up till now she’s going to be my Queen till death and hereafter Jannah.

How we met
By the bride, Ofure:

In 2018, I started working at Deloitte and Deji was one of the senior consultants in my department. I would say the first year I was there, we barely spoke. I always tell people we were not friends and I think he low-key didn’t like me. Fast forward to 2019, I left Deloitte and we connected on Instagram. I moved to Canada a few months later and he would check in on me and ask how I was doing and settling in. One of the things we first bonded over was our love for the show, ‘The Men’s Club’. I remember our very first long conversation, I was laughing like a teenage girl on the bus on my way to get my nails done and that day, I realized we had so much in common. So we became friends by the end of 2019 and you know just people who knew each other but nothing more than that.

In October 2020 I had a dream about Deji. Yes, I know this sounds cliché but yes I did dream about him and it was an interesting dream because I woke up very emotional. I had not talked to him in a while, but I was just like “Ok maybe it’s just one of those things”. I started getting ready for the day and when I picked up my phone and checked Instagram his story was the first on my TL. At this point, I’m just like what is going on here. And because of the dream I was a bit apprehensive to say hello which I would normally have done. After a while, I talked myself out of it and said I was going to say hi and checked in on him since we were friends. Now, I know it was definitely God speaking to me. We got talking and a couple of minutes into our chat, he said “I really missed talking to you” and I was thinking the exact same thing.

He would never agree to this, but I asked him for his number first because I only had his Instagram and I wanted to continue talking with him. We chatted the whole day. I wanted to talk to him the next day, but then it was awkward because we’ve never talked that much and so I came up with the smart idea to ask him for a workout playlist because the day before we talked a lot about music and shared our favorite songs. I know that was slick move, but he did create a playlist and sent it to me so I guess that worked. We have never stopped talking since that day in October 2020 and now we get to spend the rest of our lives talking, sharing music and creating a beautiful life together.

How we met
By the groom, Deji:

I first met Ofure in 2018 when she joined Deloitte but interestingly enough, we barely had any meaningful interactions outside of work which was also seldom because we barely worked on any files together. Fast forward to 2019, I was in South Africa at the time and had heard from some other colleagues in back in Nigeria that she had resigned and was relocating to Canada. A couple of weeks after that, her IG profile popped up on my recommended page (the real truth is that I looked for her profile on IG…LOL) and I followed her. I guess some seeds of love had been sown unbeknownst to me. I DM’d her a few days later when she posted a picture from her going away party on her IG stories; you know just wishing her the very best in her new journey. From 2019 to 2020 we had the odd interaction here and there in the DMs, usually led by the occasional reply to each other’s IG stories.

Sometime in 2020, during the the pandemic, I posted an old photo of myself and a few other colleagues taken in the office. She replied to the story and we got chatting in the DMs as we occasionally did. But this time it was different…we chatted the whole day about nothing and everything, our shared love for Coldplay, how we’d been coping with living through the pandemic, other shared interests. My rizz was so strong that she asked for my number at the end of the day (but the truth is that I would have asked for hers to but she only beat me to it). I wanted to get to know her more!!! Suffice it to say that I haven’t stopped chatting with her since then. And from here on it’s till infinity and beyond.

How we met
By the groom, Emmanuel:

It all began at college in 2015, a year that would change my life forever. I had transferred to her college for my sophomore year, not knowing that destiny was guiding my steps. From the first moment I saw Ashley, I felt a deep certainty that she was the one I would spend my life with. Her beauty, confidence, and special aura captivated me instantly. Eager to learn more about her, I asked a friend on campus who she was. He took it upon himself to tell her that I was interested, but I would later learn that this approach did not help my cause. Eventually, I finally decided to approach her myself. However, she was focused on her studies and not interested in dating at the time.

For the next year, we remained friends, exchanging words occasionally when our paths crossed on campus. I stayed patient, biding my time. Finally, I decided to let her know how I truly felt, that I wanted to explore something more than friendship. This time, she gave me a chance, and from that moment, our love story began to unfold beautifully. Fast forward to July 22nd, 2023, I asked her to be my wife, and she said yes. Now, I am marrying the love of my life. Our journey together has been a blessing, and I thank God every day for guiding me to transfer schools and bringing me to my soulmate.

One beautiful day after class,  King saw Nadia, and it was love at first sight. Even though they didn’t get a chance to talk at that moment, love presented another chance for them to meet that same day.

This time, King didn’t take any chances and chose to shoot his shot tactically. You’ve got to keep reading to see how he did it! How we met
By the groom, King:

This girl walks so slowly! That was my first impression of Nadia. It was the Fall semester of 2017, at the University of Massachusetts, Lowell Campus. We had both just come out of class and were at the streetlights waiting for the walk sign to turn on (among many other students). I was on the left side of the street, while Nadia was on the right. I looked to my right, and that was when I first saw her. Absolutely mesmerized! When the walk sign came on, I walked and hoped Nadia would cross and walk towards me. Even though she did, she walked super slow. So, I kept checking behind me to see if she was getting closer. “Ah, this girl walks so slow”, I thought, as I kept getting farther. I had an appointment to get to, so I could not wait for Nadia to catch up, even though I was praying she would walk faster. Unfortunately, she kept moving like a turtle and I had to leave her behind.

Later that day, I saw Nadia again in the Fox dining hall. I was sitting with a few friends, a couple of tables away. It was Nadia’s first week in university and she was sitting alone enjoying her lunch. I continued to watch her while she ate her lunch, clueless that her future husband was watching. When Nadia was done with her lunch, she stood up, grabbed her stuff, and got ready to head to campus. As she walked to drop off her dishes, a girl walked up to her. It was Didie. Didie was one of the girls sitting at my table, and I sent her to call Nadia over. “Hey, would you like to come sit with us for a bit?”, she said to Nadia. Excitingly, Nadia agreed and headed over to the table. At the table was I and one of Didie’s friends. Nadia greeted everyone, and that was the first time she set eyes on me. Everyone did quick introductions and the conversations flowed.

I was super welcoming. I was in my 3rd year, studying Mechanical Engineering. Nadia was impressed of course, but not in a romantic way. She was not checking me out at all, until I stood up to go grab something in the dining hall. Nadia was so impressed with my height and thought I was absolutely handsome! However, Nadia had to quickly discard the idea, because there was no way an upperclassman would go for a freshman, she thought. I definitely gave big brother vibes.

After lunch, I invited Nadia to an African Students meeting where I was an E-Board member, and she attended later that day. I was a bit late to the meeting and when I arrived, Nadia was already there excited to see me. Her face brightened up, smiling from ear to ear, as I walked into the meeting. Of course, I noticed. After the meeting, we exchanged Snapchats. After a night of chatting, I offered Nadia a campus tour for the next day, and she agreed. We met up at University Crossing, and the rest is history!

How we met
By the couple, Seyi and Teni:

We met at the age of 7 in Grange Primary School and the rest was history. To be more specific, we lost contact after Seyi relocated around the age of 10 but fortuitously reconnected again in 2013 over social media – a classic case of sliding into the DMs on Seyi’s part, the perfect cyber gentleman. Ironically, Seyi had no idea we had met before at the time but a Grange alumni class photo quickly cleared that up – a happy reunion indeed.

We quickly became best friends and even though our careers pulled us in different directions and countries, our shared love for culture, art and food kept our paths inextricably intertwined over the years until we decided to be apart no more and tied the knot in the Spring months of 2024 – the origins of ST Baks. With God at our foundation, we remain entirely committed and deeply devoted to each other with a focus on growing together and enjoying as many moments as we can together. Forever and always St Baks.

Nothing beats a good Baecation: you and your lover exploring another country and making memorable footprints of your love. Partners, Tele Lawal and Elado Osuobeni decided to reward themselves with a trip to Italy as Elado got to work planning an interesting holiday to surprise Tele.

My partner and I work hard to support each other in our jobs and on our projects, so every now and then we like to reward ourselves. We chose Italy as our destination, and he went about planning the holiday to surprise me.

Italy remains one of the world’s most visited travel destinations, which explains why many people have some knowledge of the country.

From the Roman Empire and its characters (Julius Caesar, Nero, etc.) to the Renaissance artists (Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, etc.), and the luxury fashion brands (Gucci, Fendi, Prada, etc.) there’s much to love about this fascinating destination.

Join us as we delve into Tele & Elado’s enchanting Italian escapade, where history met fashion and love met luxury:

Rome

Flying into Rome from London on a cool evening, the couple stayed at a modern apartment in the Prati district – a central district across the Tiber River and near the Vatican.

It’s a quiet and smart neighbourhood with lots of independent boutiques and traditional trattorias (informal restaurants) – central enough to be within walking distance of most of Rome’s sites, but residential enough to avoid the traditional tourist areas.

Their Roman adventure included breakfast at a Ristorante overlooking Bernini’s Fountain of Four Rivers in Piazza Navona and visits to all the main tourist sites including the Colosseum, the Roman Forum, Palatine Hill, the Pantheon, and Trevi Fountain.

Rome isn’t the most walkable city, but there are reasonable public transport links. Elado is into history, so it was fun watching him light up when we saw certain sites (like the spot Julius Caesar was assassinated on the Ides of March).

After a day of Roman history, it was obvious to Tele & Elado that the next day should be one of Christian history. So, after an early rise, they headed from their apartment to Vatican City.

Vatican City

To Tele & Elado, the Vatican is the most iconic city in Christian history after Jerusalem, so visiting was a no-brainer for the couple. They said to BellaNaija Style:

Not many people know that Vatican City is its own state, and not only that but that it’s entirely contained within Rome. There is no recognisable border separating the Vatican from Rome – the only indication is a thick white line on the ground.

We walked up to St. Peter’s Basilica – for hundreds of years the largest church building in the world – weaving between drinks and souvenir stands. When we reached one of many entrances, we were greeted by tight security. After having our bags and bodies scanned, we entered the main square.

As it turned out, thousands of other people had got there before us, so the queue was very long. Our morning prayers must have been answered because I managed to speak to a security guard who helped us to the front of the queue.

To our amazement, the Pope himself came out of one of the doors and greeted some of us waiting near the front! It was a surreal moment and one that we will remember for a long time.

Once the Pope left, the front doors of St. Peter’s Basilica opened and we were allowed in. We were asked whether we would like to stay to have Latin Mass. I could worship with Elado and he could practise his Latin – a wonderful opportunity!

After the various hymns and prayers, we left the Basilica and wondered around Rome for some retail therapy before dinner at Soho House. That evening, we went back to our apartment suitably blessed and ready for the next stop on our Italian tour.

We had one last café breakfast in Rome before packing our bags and heading to the train station. As I mentioned, the whole trip was a surprise for me, so Elado refused to tell me our next destination until I spotted ‘Firenze’ on our train tickets. Florence all the way!

Florence

The 1h 30m train journey from Rome to Florence was beautiful. Italy’s high-speed trains are comfortable and often leave and arrive on time. Upon arrival in Florence, the couple were greeted by a torrential rain tagged “showers of blessing” by Tele who loved their temporary home in Florence best.

The apartment was my favourite of all of the ones we rented in Italy. All of them were modern and spacious, but this one had a certain charm that I can’t quite describe.

Too tired to do anything, Tele and Elado decided to skip sightseeing for a quiet dinner. Spoiled for choice from the long list of traditional Florentine restaurant recommendations from their lodge’s host and various friends, they had some steak and headed back to the apartment to rest.

The next day, after a café breakfast, the couple headed to the Uffizi Gallery to see some of the most iconic pieces of art assembled in Italy. They spent the morning walking through the gallery and soaking in the works of Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo and Botticelli.

The day was packed so, Tele recommended that

If you ever want to visit, make sure to prepare yourself – there is far too much to see in one day!

While waiting to see the Medici Venus sculpture, the stylish couple were approached by two American photographers who asked them to model for a “Love in Florence“ shoot they were planning.

Tele donned an iconic little black dress with a flattering sweetheart neckline and tulle details for the photo shoot. She paired the dress with a light coat, off-white shoes and a petals-detailed handbag in similar colours that coordinated nicely with Elado’s lovely blazer, pants, and shirt. Love in Florence

It was such a fun time and the four of us had dinner and gelato afterwards!

The rest of our stay in Florence was marked by trips to the famous Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore (Florence Cathedral), Pitti Palace (the grand palace where the old rulers of Florence – the Medici family – lived and ruled), Boboli Gardens, and Giotto’s Campanile (a large bell tower by the cathedral).

Florence is a very walkable city – every major tourist site is within 20 minutes of the centre – but make sure to watch out for cars as the roads are very narrow.

Travel Tip from Tele

After dinner and late-night gelato, we went back to our apartment to rest for the next day. But nothing could have prepared me for the next surprise!

Tuscan Countryside

In the morning, I was told that we had a surprise activity. Elado was on his phone organising it for most of the morning and he refused to tell me where we were going.

We went to the town hall and waited until a lady pulled up in a black van. She didn’t know it was meant to be a surprise because she instantly asked whether we were there for the horse riding and wine tasting tour. Amazing!

They drove for half an hour out of Florence through the rolling hills of the Tuscan countryside to a large wine estate, called Torre a Cona.

The hosting family was kind enough to give Tele and Elado a private tour on horseback.

After giving us our helmets, we followed them for two hours on our horses. Mine was hungry and unruly, Elado’s was strong and calm – I don’t want to say they matched our personalities!

Upon return to the main house, they dismounted and headed inside where a table of bread, cheese and wine was already prepared.

We tasted four different wines, all produced on the estate and they explained the history and mechanics of the wine production. It was lovely to see how much effort and care went into each bottle.

They jumped into the van at sunset and returned to Florence to rest before heading to their final stop.

After a good night’s sleep, we packed our bags and ordered a taxi to the train station. Once again, Elado refused to tell me our destination until I saw “Venezia” light up on the train’s information board. We were on our way to the Floating City!

Venice

Upon arrival in Venice, Tele & Elado noticed something that reminded them of home (Nigeria): mosquito netting on all windows. Venetian rivers and humid weather are perfect for mosquitos.

There were signs warning us of dengue fever, so we made sure to protect ourselves on the journey. Venice was our shortest stay in Italy, but a wonderful one.

We saw the various tourist sites (Rialto Bridge, The Bridge of Sighs, St. Mark’s Basilica, and the Doge’s Palace), and feasted on traditional Venetian dishes (lots of seafood pastas). We even managed to see a Nigerian art exhibition – Naija no dey carry last!

However, for the couple, the highlight of Venice was a trip through the various canals on a traditional gondola. According to Tele:

It took us a lot of time to decide on which gondola to choose because I wanted the perfect setting. I finally found one that seemed to call out to me in one of the small side canals.

Our guide told us he was a fourth-generation gondolier – a family vocation started by his great-grandfather. He said the cushions were handmade by his grandmother and had been of sentimental value to him – no wonder I could feel the love when I first saw the gondola!

As we were gliding through the various canals, he told us about Venice’s history and the meaning behind every great building.

Thinking about the history of Italy in general (and Venice in particular) made me realise that Italy isn’t a conventional country – it’s an amalgamation of various city-states and kingdoms with their own histories who came together just over a hundred years ago to form something greater than their individual parts.

It gave us hope that Nigeria could be something greater than its individual parts too.

After a wonderful time in Venice (topped off with amazing smoothies) we headed to our apartment to rest and prepare for our flight back to London the next day.

More Italian Tourist Tips from Tele & Elado

When to visit

For Nigerians who don’t like the cold, summer from April to September will be the best time. However, this is peak tourist season, so be warned that everywhere will be busy. It will also be a lot more expensive. Out-of-season times (October to March) will be cooler but less busy and cheaper.

Where to stay

This will depend on your taste. For hotel lovers, there are many to choose from across the three cities we visited. Rome, Florence and Venice are expensive cities as they are global tourist destinations, so don’t expect high quality at cheap prices  – you get what you pay for!

We used Airbnb to find high-quality apartments in each city. Rome and Florence were much easier than Venice, though. The Floating City has fewer accommodation options (especially if you want modern interior design).

How to move around

Florence and Venice were very walkable cities, so if you don’t mind getting some exercise, you’ll be fine in those. Otherwise, Florence has taxis that can usher you around the various sites, and Venice has river taxis that can do the same.

Rome is larger and less walkable (unless you’re fit), so try the various public transport options – metro, buses, trams and urban rail. If not, good old taxis will take you to the historical sites.

How much should you budget?

It would depend on whether you’re going to one city, two, three or more. For Airbnb accommodation, you can expect anything from $200 to $500 per night for a small apartment. A budget hotel comes with setbacks anywhere from $200 to $400 per night, while $900+ per night for a luxury hotel.

If you want to eat on a budget, try the trattorias and osterias in each city (more informal than restaurants). These will generally be $30+ for a meal for two. Luxury restaurants will cost $200+ for a meal for two.

What to eat

You can get classic Italian dishes like pizzas and spaghetti Bolognese in every city. However, it’s often good to try traditional dishes in each city.

• Rome is known for artichokes, pecorino (a type of cheese), zucchini pasta, and thin, crisp pizzas.
• Florence is known for its thick steaks (Bistecca alla Fiorentina), Ribollita soup (white beans and vegetable soup), and tripe sauce (shaki in tomato sauce).
• Venice is by the sea and is known for its various seafood pasta dishes and seafood pizzas – including a cuttlefish risotto (rice dish) dyed with black ink from the cuttlefish.

Why visit?

There is something for everyone in Italy:

• If you’re interested in history and culture, the museums, palaces and ruins will satisfy you.
• If you’re interested in food, Italians have hundreds of tasty traditional and regional dishes that will have you spoilt for choice.
• If you’re interested in shopping, you’ll leave Italy with enough clothes to last you a lifetime (or at least a few weeks)!

All in all, Italy is a global tourist destination for a reason. There are many cities with different cultures and histories that will keep you coming back time and again. We’re already planning our next trip!

Amid our busy corporate lives, our love story began in December 2020, despite the pandemic keeping us miles apart, in two different states. Nari first noticed me during a virtual departmental meeting. A simple work message on Zoom turned into friendly chats on WhatsApp, eventually leading to a memorable dinner during his next visit to Lagos, where I worked. Over 18 months, our bond grew stronger, with Nari often mentoring me. Our interactions were sporadic but meaningful. Everything changed in July 2022 when he invited me to be his date at an Awards event at the last minute.

His gentlemanly and caring behaviour made me realise my feelings for him. A month later, while on an offshore assignment, Nari confessed his feelings. Our conversation revealed a mutual desire to be together. By October 2022, he officially asked me to be his girlfriend over Sunday brunch, marking the beginning of our unique love story.

They tied the knot in a grand 6-day wedding in Ilorin and it was an absolute blast. After their lovely welcome dinner and henna picnic, they had a Nikkah ceremony where they tied the knot according to their religion. They also had the Ere Osan and a lit reception and after-party to celebrate their new union. One thing that stood out was their exceptional style. How we met

We met in September 2022 through my aunt and his sister who were friends. Shortly after we started talking, I realised I had found the man for me. He was everything I had prayed for in a partner all rolled into one. However, due to the activity in my daily life, I lost interest in being in a relationship. I was overwhelmed with the rigours of medical school. I cooled off and laid low, but he would continue to check in from time to time. Come December, he confronted me about not taking things seriously and confessed his interest in trying to have something serious with me. Being avoidant and bad under stress, I took that conversation as an opportunity to end things.

Shortly after, I think my aunt who introduced us checked in with him to see if all was going well and he told her the status of our relationship. She reached out to me shortly after and I got so upset. I confided in my parents who consoled me but also urged me to give it a legitimate chance. Going into our next conversation with an open mind in January, Malik asked if I would like for him to visit me. I rebutted with the option of us meeting for a day in Paris as already had a vacation to europe planned in February. He agreed and we met. After we had seen in person for the first time, I felt the familiar feeling of knowing this was the perfect life partner for me.

He is everything I’d ever need in a partner; patient, kind, thoughtful, intentional, and consistent. From a 48 hour trip, we ended up spending the whole week together getting to know one another. After, I returned to school and he returned to Nigeria and we dated long distance, which was the real test. In all, he passed with flying colours. He put in effort to plan virtual dates, go out of his way to make me smile, plan little surprises with my friends to make me feel his presence and this meant the world to me. The next time we saw was in May, I returned to Nigeria during a school break and our bond only grew closer.

The trip was short lived and I quickly returned to school. As usual with long distance, the distance wore heavily on our relationship and I, being a cranky partner, grew anxious as time passed. Malik being the sensitive partner strived to close the gap, He surprised me with a trip to Barcelona for a few days. That trip sealed the deal. In summary, I was certain that was my parter when i returned home and also shared this very casually with him as well.

The summer of 2015 painted the first strokes of our love story. Out of the blue, I received a message from Toks on Facebook. Curiously, he had spotted a photo of me with some friends in a Facebook group. It was then that we realized we’d been connected on the platform for ages, yet our virtual paths had never truly crossed. Our first conversation flowed with such ease, but was unexpectedly cut short due to my bustling summer plans. I remember promising Toks a continued chat – a promise I unintentionally broke. A few weeks on, a gentle nudge from him in the form of a message brought a smile to my face: “Aren’t you back yet?” We shared a good laugh and let our conversations dive deeper.

Despite the miles separating us – me in New Jersey and Toks in Maryland – fate decided to play matchmaker. A mutual friend’s beach bash at Coney Island, New York, provided the perfect stage for our first face-to-face meeting. We were both excited about the prospect of finally seeing each other in person after months of virtual conversations. Little did I know, that meeting would be the cornerstone of our ever-blossoming relationship. Toks, during that trip, expressed feelings that I carried with me back to New Jersey. Sharing my budding feelings with my sister, I confided, “I think I’ve met my soulmate, but I’m treading carefully.”

Though life resumed its pace post-New York, our chats intensified, revealing layers of Toks I grew to adore – his warmth, generosity, and selflessness. And as I was taking things slow, my heart was racing ahead. It wasn’t long before we decided to elevate our bond. Years have since flown by, filled with laughter, unwavering love, and cherished memories. Toks has been my steadfast pillar, cheering for every accomplishment and standing by me through every trial. Reflecting on our journey, from those initial texts to now, I see God’s meticulous hand in our union. I’m truly blessed to have found my soulmate in Toks.

How we met

Our love story began in June 2015, thanks to social media. Destiny brought us together through a Facebook group we both liked. It was an ordinary day when I stumbled upon a picture of her, shared by one of her friends. Little did I know, that single image would change my life forever. The moment I saw her, I was enchanted by her radiant smile and her extraordinary beauty. Everything about her, from her smile that could light up a room to her graceful legs and flowing hair, was truly exceptional. It was love at first sight, and I knew I had to reach out to her.

I gathered the courage to send her a message, and though she was initially unsure, fate had other plans. When I first messaged her, she said she was busy and would get back to me, which took about 6 days. I sent a follow-up message and joked with her about how she never came back, and we laughed it off. Although we laughed later, it was a painstaking six days, as I continually checked my phone just to see if she had responded. Eventually, she agreed to meet up, and our first encounter happened at a mutual friend’s birthday party on a picturesque New York beach, Coney Island. That day marked the start of a journey neither of us could have ever imagined.

Three months later, she made the wonderful decision to become my girlfriend, and from that moment on, our love has continued to grow, becoming stronger with each passing day. Our story is like a beautiful melody that keeps getting sweeter with every verse, and I can’t wait to see where this sweet symphony of love takes us next.

We met at O.R. Tambo International Airport in South Africa on 13th July 2021. I was returning to Ghana from a missions trip with the Teens Aloud Foundation, and he was coming back from his vacation. Sitting at the corner of the boarding gate, I was speaking Twi with my friend on a call. After the call, he said, “I can tell you’re Ghanaian.” We didn’t talk much in South Africa, but during our 8-hour layover in Kenya, we had plenty of time to chat.

We talked about anything and everything until we finally got back to Ghana. We exchanged contacts and continued to talk more after that. He was just a vibe, and I loved spending time with him. We officially started dating in 2021, and now, on the 13th of July 2024, I finally get to say “I do,” exactly three years after we first met. Isn’t God wonderful?

How we met

In October 2020, I was invited to Mamboo Experience for drinks. Little did I know fate had a beautiful surprise for me. I met Ify, a beautiful introverted, simple girl, and I could swear she was a little hard to get. We exchanged phone numbers and she turned out to be an amazing friend. With each shared laugh and every text, I fell for her, my no-stress queen. Then came October 2022, our connection was undeniable, so I thought, “Why not?” I took courage and asked her to be my girlfriend.

She laughed and asked, “Are you serious?” And when she said yes? Man, that was awesome! Fast forward to October 2023, I popped the big question and she said YES! Each “yes” has been a milestone, and I couldn’t be happier about where we stand now and where we are heading. Can’t wait for more Octobers with you!

The couple, who got engaged in a heartwarming proposal at Ghana’s Safari Valley Resort last October, are now anticipating their traditional and church wedding ceremonies. We can’t wait to see the beautiful photos and videos from those celebrations too.

How we met

After completing my bachelor’s degree in Dubai, I was posted to Imo State, Nigeria, for my NYSC. Initially, I was unhappy about the posting and tried to redeploy to Abuja as planned. However, it proved difficult to change my posting, so I decided to remain in Imo State. I began working at the Imo State Government House, under the Office of the Commissioner for Co-ordinating Economy. Little did I know, my future husband was there too. He was a technical assistant in the IT department. For over a year, we served in the same office without speaking to each other or taking much notice of one another.

After completing my service, I was retained in the office. It was then that we began to get along and work closely together. Six to eight months later, we started dating. Soon after, I had to travel to the UK to complete my master’s degree. I thought our relationship might not survive the distance, but to my surprise, he made the decision to move to London to make our relationship work. He became my rock and confidant. We shared the same dreams, and he loved my family like his own. A couple of months later, we got engaged, ready to embark on the next chapter of our lives together.

Sometime in 2019, I had to go to court which I generally do not like. I met Ife in the court room where we both had different matters and he was quite helpful to me. We chatted briefly and that was it. But as fate would have it, we met later that year at a different location and reconnected. We exchanged messages regularly and started hanging out for drinks occasionally. Sometime in 2020, we became inseparable, and since then, it has been a journey of two friends in love with each other. We are alike in so many ways and certainly meant for each other. We like to think that our union is divinely ordained. Call it destiny, call it divine timing—we’re just grateful to have stumbled upon each other in this wonderful adventure called life.

Singer-songwriter and rapper Rema brought his energy to the most talked-about wedding of the year, performing his hit song “Calm Down,” yesterday, in India. Held at the Jio World Centre in Mumbai, the lavish ceremony united Anant Ambani, the youngest son of India’s wealthiest man Mukesh Ambani, and Radhika Merchant, daughter of pharma tycoons Viren and Shaila Merchant.

The lovebirds, childhood sweethearts who had celebrated their love through seven months of elaborate pre-wedding festivities, culminated their journey with a four-day extravaganza.

The wedding ceremony was a global affair, drawing dignitaries like former Prime Ministers Boris Johnson and Tony Blair, former US Secretary of State John Kerry, and Hollywood celebrities like John Cena, Nick Jonas, Priyanka Chopra, Khloe and Kim Kardashian. The pre-wedding festivities were equally star-studded, with Rihanna’s performance kicking off their engagement party and Justin Bieber captivating the crowd during their luxurious Mediterranean cruise.

Rema’s performance of his chart-topping hit “Calm Down” was a highlight of the wedding celebrations. His energy and music ignited the atmosphere, with the couple and guests singing along to the song.
